Bond Bryan
The flagship automotive dealership for Volkswagen Group UK, this building’s design sought to maximise impact whilst working within the tight boundaries of the selected site. Bond Bryan were able to create a sensitive design over four storeys that gives Volkwagen UK three floors of showroom with a 92 car capacity and workshop facilities at ground level.
A 230m2 ‘living wall’, fuelled by rainwater harvesting systems, offers some much-needed bio diversity to the concrete realm. The use of gas air source heat pump technology with gas-fired VRF system cooling, high efficiency LED lighting and 300m2 of photovoltaic panels to provide energy via renewable technology helped this building achieve its BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. This building acts not only as a flagship dealership, but also as a flagship of Volkswagen exemplary attitude towards sustainability.
The existing building is to be fully refurbished with the operational accommodation and appliance bays being retained at ground floor level.
Factory 2050 is the UK’s first fully reconfigurable assembly and component manufacturing facility for collaborative research.
