St Dunstan’s College: A Transformational Redevelopment for Future Generations

St Dunstan’s College in London underwent its most extensive redevelopment since 1888, with Bond Bryan leading the architectural design, visualisation, and contractor collaboration. This £17.5M transformation includes a new Junior School, STEM, and Sixth Form Building, blending historical sensitivity with contemporary design.

Certified BREEAM Excellent, the project integrates sustainable technologies and thoughtful spatial organisation to provide enhanced learning environments while preserving the College’s heritage. The redevelopment enhances the schools innovation and creativity, serving a co-educational community from ages 3 to 18.

Value

We delivered a contemporary learning hub for St Dunstan’s College, maximising the constrained site’s potential while respecting its heritage. Our innovative design enabled outdoor teaching spaces for the Junior School and state-of-the-art STEM facilities.

By maintaining the Headmaster’s House, we retained historical identity while providing functional new spaces, aligning with the client’s vision.

St Dunstan’s College combines heritage preservation with innovation, delivering new STEM and Sixth Form facilities.
Impact

The redevelopment significantly benefits the College and its community. It enhances the educational experience with modern facilities and sustainable design, attracting students and staff.

The external science terrace and outdoor play areas foster active, hands-on learning, while improved connectivity between buildings enriches the campus environment, creating lasting cultural and social impact.

Sustainability

Our technical expertise ensures a sustainable school with energy efficient systems and long-lasting materials. The integration of passive and active strategies, such as lightwells for natural lighting and ventilation, optimises energy use.

These measures not only reduce the building’s carbon footprint but also provide a comfortable learning environment while supporting the client’s commitment to sustainability.
