Project Hubble
As Sandoz expanded its research and development activities in Cambridge, the company required a larger, purpose-designed facility to support its growing presence. Project Hubble transforms an existing building into a specialist workplace, bringing together laboratories, workshops and office accommodation within a flexible environment designed to support pharmaceutical research, product development and future growth.
Value
The refurbishment has created a bespoke facility that balances highly technical research environments with modern workplace amenities. Designed to accommodate around 50 staff, the project provides a range of specialist spaces that support scientific research, product testing and day-to-day operations.
A key feature of the facility is a dedicated observation suite, providing a controlled environment where prototype medical devices can be trialled safely under close observation. Alongside this, the project delivers a fully equipped workshop, primary and secondary Research & Development laboratories, write-up areas, meeting rooms and office suites that bring research and operational teams together within a single workplace.
The completed refurbishment includes:
- Observation suite
- Main Research & Development laboratory
- Secondary laboratories
- Workshop
- Write-up areas and meeting rooms
- Office suites supporting supply chain, delivery logistics and finance functions
Impact
Project Hubble provides Sandoz with a flexible research environment designed to support both current operations and future expansion. By creating a workplace that combines specialist laboratory facilities with collaborative office environments, the project strengthens the company’s growing presence within Cambridge’s life sciences community and provides the infrastructure needed to support ongoing pharmaceutical research and development.
