Cleveland Fire Brigade unveils cutting-edge Training Hub driving safety and sustainability in Hartlepool.

Bond Bryan were tasked with a two-phased development for Cleveland Fire Brigade, consolidating their non-operational facilities into a modern, purpose-built site at Queen’s Meadow Business Park, Hartlepool. The aim was to improve training capabilities while supporting local regeneration priorities.

By integrating the building into the surrounding landscape, we created a secure yet welcoming environment, benefiting both the fire service and the local community, who now have access to on-site leisure facilities. This project strengthens Cleveland Fire Brigade’s presence in Teesside, providing state-of-the-art facilities that meet evolving fire and rescue needs.

Value

The Cleveland Fire Brigade faced operational inefficiencies with scattered facilities. Our task was to consolidate their non-operational services into a single, efficient site. The first phase saw the creation of a 2,960m² training and administration centre, fostering better communication and collaboration among teams.

Phase II introduced specialized training facilities, including a fire house, fire behaviour unit, and areas for road traffic and industrial incident simulations. This integration enhanced training efficiency, reduced costs, and optimised operational workflows. The consolidated facilities ensure that the brigade can serve the community more effectively and are better equipped for future challenges.

The training centre's fire house, built with eco-friendly materials, replicates a real home, ensuring practical training while minimising its carbon footprint for lasting environmental responsibility.
Impact

The Cleveland Fire Brigade Training Hub has transformed a previously underutilised site within Queen’s Meadow Business Park, aligning with local regeneration efforts. The facility is not only a vital resource for the fire brigade but also for the local police, enhancing collaboration between emergency services.

Public leisure facilities foster engagement with the community, while the training hub ensures businesses in Hartlepool have access to high-quality fire and rescue services. As the area grows, the facility provides reassurance to local industries and investors, positioning Hartlepool as a secure location for development and investment.

Sustainability

Sustainability was a guiding principle at the heart of the design for the Cleveland Fire Brigade Training Facilities. We approached the development with a deep consideration for its environmental impact. With the design incorporating energy-efficient lighting, natural ventilation, and sustainable drainage systems.

The landscape was thoughtfully integrated into the site, creating green spaces that promote biodiversity. The fire house, constructed with environmentally responsible materials, is energy-efficient and reduces the overall carbon footprint of the training centre.

This £14 million development not only supports the operational needs of Cleveland Fire Brigade but also reinforces Hartlepool’s regeneration efforts, ensuring long-term environmental sustainability alongside enhanced community safety.
