Humberside Police opens advanced Melton Operational Support Facility to boost training, efficiency, and emergency response.

The design and delivery of the Melton Police Operational Support (MPOS) building for Humberside Police reflects the authority’s commitment to operational consolidation and modernisation.

Located on the Melton West Business Park, this facility enhances collaboration between Humberside Police’s Melton 1 and Melton 2 sites, offering improved functionality, sustainability, and operational efficiency.

Value

The Melton 2 facility adds significant value to Humberside Police by consolidating critical operational functions into a modern, energy-efficient building. The inclusion of advanced training facilities, such as Taser training with mock buildings and streetscapes, and a Force Control Centre enhances the capabilities of the Police Force.

Resourceful design choices, such as increased insulation and photovoltaic panels, ensure long-term cost savings while meeting stringent operational and environmental standards. The facility also meets the Police Force’s operational needs 24/7, promoting operational flexibility and efficiency.

Impact

Socially, the facility supports Humberside Police’s mission by providing enhanced operational services that directly benefit the community. By centralising operations, the police are better positioned to respond to emergencies and provide vital services across the region.

Economically, the building’s efficient design reduces maintenance and energy costs, while the use of renewable technologies aligns with sustainability goals. Environmentally, the facility enhances the site’s biodiversity through ecological planting and surface water management, positively impacting the surrounding area.

The Melton 2 facility combines innovative design with sustainable technologies, providing Humberside Police with a state-of-the-art operational hub that reduces energy costs, enhances efficiency, and supports the community.
Sustainability

The technical expertise behind the design of the Melton 2 facility ensured that sustainability was embedded throughout the project. The building exceeds current regulations for insulation, uses renewable technologies like photovoltaic panels, and features energy-efficient systems, such as heat recovery and LED lighting.

These measures reduce the building’s carbon footprint while providing a highly functional, long-lasting asset for Humberside Police.
