Hertswood Academy
A Purpose-Built Campus for Community and Academic Excellence
Hertswood Academy’s new campus unites students from two former sites, creating a vibrant, single home for learning and community engagement. Accommodating up to 1,400 students, the campus includes specialised spaces, from a Community Theatre to Sport England-standard sports facilities, offering a dynamic environment that supports academic and extracurricular growth.

Value
Bringing Hertswood Academy’s lower and upper students under one roof has transformed the school’s operational efficiency and strengthened its identity. The modern facilities provide enhanced learning experiences and greater opportunities for student development.
By designing a centralised campus with dedicated spaces for sports, arts, and academics, we’ve helped Hertswood create a space that aligns with their vision of well-rounded, community-focused learners.
This purpose-built, eco-conscious campus not only unites students from two former sites but also strengthens community ties, creating a vibrant, shared space that supports growth, creativity, and wellbeing for all.

Impact
The 250-seat Community Theatre and fully equipped sports centre provide spaces where residents can gather, enjoy performances, and engage in sports, contributing to community cohesion.
These facilities not only support student enrichment but also extend the academy’s value as a venue for professional performances and recreational activities, adding vibrancy to the area.

Sustainability
Designed with sustainability at its core, Hertswood Academy incorporates energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials to reduce environmental impact and running costs. High-performance insulation and efficient heating systems maintain optimal conditions while minimising energy use. The landscape design promotes biodiversity, with native plants that enhance local ecosystems.
By balancing functional design with ecological considerations, Hertswood Academy exemplifies a modern, sustainable approach to educational architecture, ensuring a lasting positive impact on both the community and the environment.
