Berkeley Homes Corporate Headquarters
Appointed through a design competition, Bond Bryan designed a modern and functional office environment that reflects the professional image of Berkeley Homes East Thames.
When Berkeley Homes approached Bond Bryan to design their new office space at Royal Arsenal Riverside, we were tasked with creating a workspace that would embody the energy and ambition behind the regeneration of Woolwich.
The project involved transforming a retail unit into a dynamic office environment for their Directors and Technical Team. Through careful planning and collaboration, we were able to design a highly functional and flexible workspace that supports Berkeley Homes’ growing team while working within the constraints of an existing structure.
Value
Berkeley Homes needed a space that supported their growing team and reflected the fast-paced nature of their major regeneration projects. The office had to work within the constraints of the retail unit’s existing structure and services, so our design focused on flexibility, making efficient use of every square metre.
By collaborating closely with their Technical Team, we tailored the layout to accommodate different working styles and tested several furniture configurations to find the most efficient solution. This approach ensured that the space fostered collaboration and productivity, serving the team’s operational needs and delivering a high-quality environment.
We worked closely with the Technical Team to establish the spatial arrangements to ensure adequate workstations and to suit the work patterns of the teams.
Impact
The new office space plays a significant role in the revitalisation of Woolwich. As Berkeley Homes drives the area’s transformation with its major residential and commercial developments, this office serves as the hub for the teams behind those projects. It’s where ideas are born and plans are refined, directly contributing to the area’s renewal.
Repurposing a previously unused retail unit for the office space demonstrates the evolving vibrancy of Woolwich, offering high-quality spaces for both work and leisure that contribute to the area’s ongoing growth and revitalisation.
Sustainability
The project prioritised refurbishing an existing building. This approach minimised waste and the need for new materials, contributing to a lower environmental impact. Energy-efficient features, such as LED lighting with smart controls and energy-efficient HVAC systems, were incorporated to ensure the office met modern sustainability standards.
The choice of durable, sustainable materials and furniture further ensured the space’s longevity while keeping its environmental footprint low. This future-proofed design allows the office to evolve alongside Berkeley Homes’ continued growth in Woolwich.
