The new Construction Centre forms a key element in Barnsley College’s redevelopment of its Honeywell Lane Campus.
Our design placed a single, double height workshop at the centre of the new building. Around this are more specialist facilities as well as a large covered external project area, allowing students to move seamlessly between different learning environments. A series of saw-tooth roof-lights maximise daylight, and combined with the simple form of the building, offer the maximum flexibility to meet the inevitable changes in the curriculum. Alongside the large-scale workshops, the Centre also incorporates a range of smaller scale teaching facilities, including a dedicated CAD/BIM area and professional studies suite.
Built upon a tight and busy urban site, Barnsley College’s new Sixth Form Centre provides a wide variety of teaching and learning facilities at the heart of Barnsley’s town centre.
One of the government’s National College schemes, the National College for Nuclear in Workington comprises a 2 storey, naturally ventilated, bold and striking contemporary design.
