Bond Bryan Architects were appointed to develop a masterplan to transform the iconic Don Valley Athletics Stadium site into the Olympic Legacy Park.
Reintegrating the site into the local community was a key aspiration to help foster wider regeneration of the surrounding area. The masterplan included a through school (nursery to secondary) and a University Technical College with the students and wider community benefiting from access to the professional sports facilities. The final element of the park’s vision was to ensure that opportunities are created to improve the local economy; as such, the masterplan sought to maximise opportunities for commercial development.
The existing building is to be fully refurbished with the operational accommodation and appliance bays being retained at ground floor level.
Factory 2050 is the UK’s first fully reconfigurable assembly and component manufacturing facility for collaborative research.
