The new 8-form entry Hertswood Academy brings together pupils, currently spread over two separate sites, into one campus. This 12,005m2 new-build will be able to accommodate up to 1,400 students, including 200 sixth form pupils. A single new Academy was built to house all of the Lower and Upper students and includes facilities such as clear parking and drop-off areas, play and sports zones, as well as a Community Sports Centre and a Community Theatre.
The Community Theatre is purpose-built to seat up to 250 people and provides a prime performance space for local drama and theatrical groups – offering up professional shows and high-calibre entertainment for the community. The sports hall has also been designed to Sport England standards
The existing building is to be fully refurbished with the operational accommodation and appliance bays being retained at ground floor level.
Factory 2050 is the UK’s first fully reconfigurable assembly and component manufacturing facility for collaborative research.
