West Midlands Fire & Rescue Authority needed their outdated Coventry fire station to be effectively updated in order to vastly improve the functionality and efficiency of their more operational aspects – further helping them to continue to deliver a high-quality service.
Bond Bryan’s solution is a design which reflects both the building’s use and its purpose – as well as the city that surrounds it. The highly-articulated external concrete facade at the ground floor reflects Coventry’s long-standing association with that material, whilst a blackened perforated-metal rainscreen on the building’s first floor references the carbon-based activities which are undertaken by those at the fire station.
With a complex brief to adhere to, Bond Bryan were able to create a building both unique in its varying forms and highly significant to its dual functions.
