iMET was born from a vision to provide a new type of training environment – centred on meeting the needs of local and regional employers. Using our experience of creating environments for Education and Advanced Manufacturing, Bond Bryan were able to support the College and its partners in developing an initial brief and then a design for this unique facility – as well as assisting with the LEP funding process.
Our design solution brings together traditional teaching spaces, specialist workshops and laboratories with collaborative work environments into a simple and flexible building. Developed as a case study for the use of BIM Level 2, the project has, itself, been used as a training opportunity in BIM project processes – for those individuals attending both iMET and the construction industry in general.
The new Construction Centre forms a key element in Barnsley College’s redevelopment of its Honeywell Lane Campus. Our design placed a single, double height workshop at the centre of the new building.
Part of the government’s National College initiative, this sister campus to the Doncaster Campus is a monument to the innovative design of Bond Bryan.
