Bond Bryan at National College for High Speed Rail: Ground Breaking Ceremony

Bond Bryan were delighted to attend the Ground Breaking Ceremony in Birmingham yesterday, for the National College for High Speed Rail.

Transport Minister, Robert Goodwill described the college as: “a tremendous opportunity for young people, we’re going to need a lot of technical skills and this college is all about equipping our people with the skills they’ll need to build this railway, so we don’t have to bring them in from elsewhere.”

Associate Director, Fran Holloway said: “It’s really exciting for us to be working on the National College for High Speed Rail, which will support local businesses’ growth and secure jobs for future generations.”

Phase one will run between London and Birmingham, with construction proposed to start in 2017.

Bond Bryan at Sheffield University Careers Event

On Monday 14th March, the Bond Bryan team of Rob Makey, Rosanna Sutcliffe and Matt Hutton attended the Sheffield University Careers Event – ‘Ask an Expert: Work in the Built Environment’.

This event brings together organisations from across the Built Environment industry and students from the Urban Studies and Planning, Architecture, Landscape and Geography departments.

Rosanna Sutcliffe, Architectural Assistant said: “I always enjoy sharing my experiences with students. I found it highly rewarding to be involved with this event and to help students with their career decisions based on my own experiences – especially after graduating from The University of Sheffield myself!”

Bond Bryan co-host public consultation for Coventry City's new fire station

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week the Bond Bryan team behind Coventry City’s proposed new fire station on Radford Road jointly hosted a public consultation event alongside West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS).

Aimed at showcasing the design and inviting comments and questions from members of the local community, the event was a complete success and received a resoundingly positive response from everybody who attended.

The Bond Bryan and WMFS team are very excited to be submitting the scheme to Coventry City Council for planning approval on 11th March, with work commencing on site in the summer.

Thank you to everybody who has worked on the scheme and attended the event.

Royal visitor at Bradford College opening

HRH Prince Richard , The Duke of Gloucester, officially opened the Bond Bryan designed David Hockney Building at Bradford College yesterday.

He was given a tour of the building including its 3D printing facilities, hair, beauty and spa areas and multi-media equipment zones

The Duke said: “This is a splendid structure that seems to please everyone who comes here. I would like to congratulate all those who have played a role here. I also wish the best to those who grow their talents here. It’s a great pleasure for me to come to Bradford. Everyone I spoke to seems very happy on what they are doing with the building.”

Andy Welsh, chief executive officer of the Bradford College Group, also hailed the site, saying the facilities will let the college keep at the forefront of new technology.

He said: “The new building marks the future of Bradford College, and the innovative way our students will learn and develop during their time here. The David Hockney Building is significant not only for the college, but for Bradford as an entity, and on behalf of the college, I would like to say that we feel honoured to receive the Royal recognition for our hard work.”

Matt Hutton, Associate Director at Bond Bryan Architects and largely responsible for the design of the David Hockney Building, was there to celebrate the opening.
