Join Tomasz Romaniewicz in upcoming BTR Webinar

Bond Bryan’s Tomasz Romaniewicz will be taking part in the upcoming Bisnow BTR webinar: “Making BTR accessible: the Case for Product Differentiation + Tier Two Markets”. Tomasz will be alongside James Mulcare (Godwin Developments), Ashley Perry MRICS (LIV Consult) Rebecca Taylor (Long Harbour Ltd) and John German (Invesco EMEA).

Working from home and spending more time within your local community will play a bigger part in our lives than at any time in recent memory.

Webinar Summary

  • How can BTR capture more market share in smaller cities?
  • How can the sector differentiate its products for various BTR price points and as a result cater better to its various customers in metropolitan areas?
  • How can the sector differentiate its products for various BTR price points and as a result cater better to its various customers in metropolitan areas?
  • How can BTR become more affordable and provide more comfort by design?
  • What changes to the built environment, including public spaces, outdoor and indoor amenities, are expected with the next iteration of projects?
  • How will the unit size evolve compared to its surrounding offerings post pandemic?

As we move out of the pandemic, working from home and spending more time within your local community will play a bigger part in our lives than at any time in recent memory. While this may trigger increased demand for BTR in suburban settings, a strong gravity towards inner-city living will remain. BTR developments already exhibit a high level of quality and customer service — highly valued during these times — but how can the sector make itself accessible to a wider audience across different locations?

Please join the experts as they examine how the BTR sector can further differentiate its product offerings and cater to a wider market — from young professions, downsizers to families. They will discuss how BTR works in tier-two markets and how it can reach a wider audience in metropolitan areas in the new world.

Bond Bryan shortlisted for three RIBA Awards

The Bond Bryan team is delighted to have three projects shortlisted in the prestigious RIBA Awards 2020.

The University of Sheffield, Engineering Heartspace and The Doncaster Enterprise Centre have both been shortlisted in the RIBA Yorkshire Award 2020.

The University of Kent, Kennedy Building has been shortlisted for the RIBA South East Award.

We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for each of these awards; the competition in both regions is as high as ever

RIBA Yorkshire Judging Panel Chair, Peter Cartwright, said:

“This year’s shortlist of potential RIBA award winners in Yorkshire covers a wide range of sectors with many schemes reinventing existing buildings rather than building new, which is great to see. We are very interested in the operation and performance of buildings, as opposed to purely how they look – their beauty must be more than skin deep. We believe awards should go to buildings which will continue to look good for years to come, taking into consideration their low carbon strategy and approach to whole life cost.”

Managing Director, Jonathan Herbert said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for each of these awards; the competition in both regions is as high as ever and we are extremely proud of all of our people whose hard work and determination has made this possible. Congratulations to everyone in the shortlist!”

The RIBA Awards are judged by physically visiting each shortlisted project. Due to significant concern about the spread of coronavirus, the judging of all RIBA Awards for buildings has been postponed and will resume when possible.

Elland Future High Street

The plans create improved connectivity throughout the town by linking venues and assets in a fun way, creating new event spaces and improved public realm.

Bond Bryan have worked closely with Calderdale Council and Project Managers Turner and Townsend to develop design proposals for the community-led regeneration project of Elland Town Centre.

Elland has some of the most unique heritage assets within the Yorkshire region; however, the changes in how people use the high street have meant that footfall has reduced in parts of the town and many heritage buildings are not being utilised. Bond Bryan have developed the masterplan with the council and this encompasses six distinct, but inter-related elements aiming to bring those spaces back into use and enable viable opportunities for new businesses and homes; these will generate an increase in footfall and occupation, recapture the spirit and distinction of place and bring back the heart of the high street.

The plans create improved connectivity throughout the town – by linking venues and assets in a fun way, creating new event spaces and improved public realm – and by working with the cultural heritage of the place to develop new talent for the future economy, and the opportunities to have more people living in the town centre.
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, a public consultation will be carried out virtually – welcoming local people to have their say by questionnaire and to ensure that the needs of the community are being met.

Bond Bryan’s Tomasz Romaniewicz, commented:

“Continuing with a virtual public consultation is a real testament to the strength and ambition that we see at Calderdale Council: pushing ahead during these difficult times with the end-goal in sight – to better connect the features of the town and unlock its true potential. We are very excited to be part of this project in reigniting the town which holds so much potential and is rich in history.”

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Resources, Coun Jane Scullion, said:

“Elland has a lot to offer as a town, with some wonderful heritage features and some great independent shops and businesses. We’re now at the stage when we can share some ideas to help improve the look and feel of the town centre.”
