Bond Bryan Digital welcomes Emma Hooper to our team

Today marks another step forward for our Digital brand as we take on our first new employee since setting up the brand 18 months ago!

We welcome Emma Hooper who joins the team as a Digital Information Specialist.

Emma has a wealth of experience with BIM and digital construction – including being integral to delivering the world’s first ‘Integrated Project Insurance’ project at Dudley College Advance2.

As a certified Autodesk Revit expert, Emma brings new and complementary skills to our team – particularly with open file format exchange (e.g. IFC and COBie).

Emma is a core member of ‘Women in BIM’ and is also the co-author of recently-published “Delivering COBie with Autodesk Revit” which was written with Bill East, the author of COBie, and others. This work complements the work done by our Associate Director, Rob Jackson, who produced the “Delivering COBie with GRAPHISOFT ARCHICAD” book with Bill last year.

Both Emma and our other Digital team members have a shared passion for delivering information which is structured, reliable and reusable and, most of all, built around open standards and processes. Emma’s role will be to support our clients on real projects – delivering “Better Information Management” at the same time as doing research and development into better ways of working. Of course, through this work, Emma will be contributing to Bond Bryan’s BIM Blog to share some of this work with a wider audience – so that others will also benefit from Emma’s joining us!

Emma says: “We are starting to turn a corner in the evolution of ‘BIM’, with the focus being on the integrity and structure of data. In tandem, we need to develop a greater understanding of the mechanics of information, and its application within industry, for efficient project use. Together with concentrating on changing people’s attitudes and behaviours, this is how we will gain real value from “BIM” and create the change that the industry so desperately needs.”

Rob Jackson added: “Emma’s joining the team means we can push on with our research and development into delivering open standards effectively and efficiently but, at the same time, deliver more projects that push to change construction for the better!”.

Follow Emma on twitter (@liccle_em) and watch out for her posts, in the near future, on our BIM Blog!
