Associate

Our Birmingham studio are delivering many high-profile projects in the West Midlands in education, residential, blue light, and commercial sectors. We are looking for the right person to manage the team and delivery of projects. This will include dealing with clients and coordinating the team to deliver the projects whilst helping to build the studio.

Bond Bryan opened the Birmingham Studio just over 5 years ago and our portfolio has continued to grow. We are now on the lookout for an Associate to help us deliver our recent successes in the West Midlands region.

Currently a number of the projects are delivered by teams based in the Sheffield Studio, with front end client management undertaken from the Birmingham studio. We are now looking to recruit to create a fully functioning Birmingham Studio, scaled to deliver the projects we have secured.

The practice utilises ARCHICAD and Solibri as their primary authoring software and while a working knowledge of these would be preferable, experience of other software platforms is equally valuable. Training will be provided.

Under the guidance of our Birmingham Director, Associate Director and Associate this Associate will:

  • Develop, maintain and deliver projects with the team from the Birmingham Studio
  • Act as the key point of contact for the studio for the projects
  • Support the business development within the region to win projects
  • Maintain close communications with the senior team
  • Report progress against agreed aims and objectives for the studio

Key Responsibilities:

The duties will develop over time and the successful candidate will be a keen learner who will be able to develop their own skills to encompass these aspects:

  • Be able to take responsibility for running / working on one or more projects within the studio under an Associate Director or Director.
  • Undertake client meetings both with members of the wider team and independently.
  • Support the Directors and Associate Directors within the studio to continue to grow the business.
  • Lead a number of people on projects as the Studio develops.
  • Promote design and delivery excellence in everything we do in alignment with Bond Bryan’s objectives.
  • Provide regular project and staff updates to Directors and Associate Directors.
  • Participate in project reviews and interviews when requested.
  • Assist Directors and Associate Directors when required on bids and events.
  • It is anticipated that the right candidate will work with the Directors, Associate Directors and Associates to develop this senior role in Birmingham, taking over some duties currently undertaken by others. There is significant scope for a proactive ambitious person to engage with development of the Birmingham studio and to help grow their own role as part of the goals of the practice. This will require an engaged individual with a curious mind who is able to marry the business opportunities with the demands of project delivery in a busy practice.

Key Skills Required:

  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
  • Display confident, competent skills in the delivery of major architectural projects.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and presentational skills, both written and spoken.
  • Apply a methodical approach in order to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Able to identify issues and contribute to the resolution of complex situations in an open and proactive manner.
  • Capable of working independently, collaboratively and communicate with other staff in the wider practice to benefit of the growth of the Birmingham studio.
  • Contribute positively to the management of change to meet practice objectives in the West Midlands.
  • Is clear about priorities, communicates directly and honestly and promotes understanding, invites participation and seeks feedback.
  • Encourages creativity, stretches and develops others. Values people as individuals, shows respect and positive regard for others.
  • Able to promote a positive image of the organisation and represent the Birmingham Studio both internally and externally.
